The CM Effect™ is officially open for business.
I’ve spent more than two decades building things.
Websites. Publications. Businesses. Content systems. Communities. Programs. Events. Strategies. And solutions to problems that occasionally arrived looking like complete chaos. I love chaos, by the way. I excel at transforming it into beauty and working solutions.
Over the past few months, I’ve been doing something different. I’ve taken all of my experience and built a business around the work I do best.
Today, I’m opening the doors.
Strategy. Systems. Content. Websites.
If something in your business isn’t working the way it should, bring it to me.
I created The CM Effect to do the work I do best. I can walk into something complicated, see how the pieces connect, create structure, and make it work.
And chances are, if you run a business or organization, you know exactly what complicated looks like.
Maybe your business has grown faster than its systems. Perhaps you have a website no longer reflects what you actually do. Maybe you’ve created years of valuable content, but nobody can find it, including Google! Perchance you’re one of those business owners whose processes live in spreadsheets, inboxes, Google Docs and someone else’s head. Maybe you’re a creator who keeps creating because you haven’t had time to figure out how to make what you already have work harder.
Or maybe you just know something isn’t working, but you’re too close to it to see why.
Let me see it!

I See These Connections Quickly
One of the hardest things about explaining what I do has always been that I don’t fit neatly into one box.
I’m a business and operations strategist, but I build websites. As a web strategist and webmaster, I understand content, SEO and publishing.
I’m a publisher who understands operations and I’m a systems thinker who cares deeply about how actual human beings experience those systems.
And I’m a writer, editor, entrepreneur, community builder, patient advocate and disability-rights advocate.
For a long time, I treated those things as separate parts of my career, but they’re not.
The ability to see the connections between them is the work that I do best.
My Business Is New Because It Has A Name Now. But My Work Isn’t.
The CM Effect officially launched on August 5, 2026, but I didn’t wake up this year and decide to become a consultant.
I’ve spent more than two decades building, operating, fixing, rebuilding and leading things.
I founded My Several Worlds in 2007 and turned it into a digital publication containing more than 900 articles spanning travel, Asia, culture, health, disability and advocacy. It is a globally recognized patient hub that supports and assists chronically ill and disabled communities around the world.
I’m also an international businesswoman who spent more than sixteen years helping to build and operate an international recruitment company. I ran its day-to-day operations from 2010 onwards.
I served for years in leadership with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan.
In 2015, I co-founded Dragons’ Chamber Taiwan alongside Andrew Lunman through the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan when we launched CanCham’s Small Business Network. It was the first of its kind in Taiwan. I created the original concept, branding, and logo design with Andrew; I built the original website and communications strategy and was on stage at the launch of Taiwan’s first pitch event for immigrant entrepreneurs in 2016. What began as a Chamber initiative grew into a long-running entrepreneurial platform that continues today.

On the Pink Stage at Dragons’ Chamber Taiwan 2017 with Brandon Thompson. At the time, I was serving as Chairwoman of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan. Brandon was on my board of directors. We’ve performed on stages across Taiwan many times over the years.
I’ve built websites, publishing systems, marketing strategies, communities and events. As a professional editor in Taiwan, I’ve written, edited and published my own books as well as books under Live ABC Interactive Publishing.
I’ve worked with businesses, nonprofits, entrepreneurs and organizations.
And when systems failed people, including me, I became an advocate and helped push for change.
There is much more to that story, which is why I finally built an archive of it.

Because if I’m asking you to trust me with something you’ve built, I think you should be able to see what I’ve built too.
So What Exactly Is The CM Effect?
At its simplest, it’s Strategy. Systems. Content. Websites.
But those things rarely exist independently.
A website problem may actually be a messaging problem while a content problem could be an organizational problem. Businesses that need more content might actually be sitting on ten years of material that simply needs to be organized, updated and put back to work. A team struggling with productivity may not need to work harder. They may need fewer unnecessary steps.
That’s why I don’t approach a project thinking only about the thing I’ve been hired to fix.
I want to understand why it isn’t working in the first place.
You Don’t Need to Know Which Service You Need
This matters immensely to me as part of my business philosophy.
I don’t expect you to diagnose your own business before you contact me. You shouldn’t need to decide whether you have a strategy problem, a systems problem, a content problem or a website problem before we have even had a conversation.
Business owners know their business. You know where you’re frustrated, where you’re losing time, what you’ve been putting off and what isn’t working as well as it should. That’s enough to start.
Sometimes the problem you can see isn’t the problem we need to solve.
You don’t have to arrive with a polished project brief and a perfectly diagnosed business problem.
Start with what’s happening. Maybe something in your business keeps annoying you, a task takes far longer than it should, or there’s a project you keep opening and closing because you simply do not have the energy for it today. Perhaps you’ve already tried to fix it, or you know what you want the end result to look like but can’t quite figure out how to get there.
You don’t need to diagnose the problem before you come to me. You just need to know that something could be working better.
I’ll help you figure out what the actual problem is.
Sometimes the answer is strategy; other times, it’s systems, content or your website. Quite often, the real problem sits somewhere between them, where nobody has stepped far enough back to see how the pieces are affecting one another.
That’s where I come in.

Structure Should Give You Freedom
I don’t believe businesses need more complexity.
They need the right structure.
The right systems reduce decision fatigue, and strong content should continue working long after you publish it. A good website makes it easy for people to understand who you are, what you do and what they should do next, while the strategy behind all of it gives you a reason for doing something before you spend six months doing it.
And good operations make it possible for the business to function without everything depending on one exhausted human being remembering absolutely everything.
My last point is particularly important to me because sustainable doesn’t mean doing more. It means building things that keep working.
There Is Another Part to My Work
The CM Effect also carries something I would never have predicted when I began my career.
Patient advocacy and disability rights aren’t decorative additions to my professional identity. Living and working with disability fundamentally changed the way I think about systems.
Who gets excluded? Where does friction occur? What assumptions have been built into a process? And what happens when the person using the system cannot interact with it in the way its designer expected?
What looks efficient from the organization’s side but creates an enormous burden for the person on the other side?
Accessibility has made me a better strategist while advocacy has made me a better communicator.
And navigating systems that weren’t designed for people like me has made me exceptionally interested in building better ones.
Starting Again Without Starting Over
After more than two decades in Asia, I’m building this chapter of my career from Canada.
But I don’t think of The CM Effect as starting over. I’m bringing all of it with me: the businesses I’ve helped build and run, the websites and publications I’ve created, the leadership experience, the communities I’ve helped build and the thousands upon thousands of pieces of content I’ve worked with over the years.
I’m bringing the advocacy, the strategy and the systems thinking, along with the mistakes, the things that worked spectacularly and the things that absolutely did not. All of it has contributed to the experience of looking at something complicated and thinking:
There has to be a better way to do this. That’s where I come in and that’s The CM Effect.
If your business, organization, website or content has reached the point where you know something needs to change, but you’re not entirely sure where to begin, I want to hear about it.
You don’t need a polished brief. Tell me what you’re working on, what’s frustrating you, what you’ve already tried and what you wish were working better.
I’ll tell you whether I’m the right person to help.
I work with businesses, entrepreneurs and organizations in Carleton Place, Ottawa and worldwide.
